Drive chain lubrication
The chain consists of many moving parts.
If the chain is not maintained properly, it will
wear o u t rapidly. W i t h o u t lubrication the
chain could wear o u t w i t h i n 1,500 k m (1,000
i n ) ; therefore, f o r m the habit o f periodically
servicing the chain. This Service is especially
necessary when riding in w e t or dusty con-
ditions.
1. Use Yamaha chain and cable spray
(where available) or other suitable spray
lubricant. First, remove d i r t and m u d
f r o m the chain w i t h a brush or cloth and
then spray the lubricant between b o t h
rows of side plates and on all center
rollers. This should be performed at least
every 500 km (300 m i ) .
