1. General questions about the software
F 1:
How do I interpret the different data types (chapter 8.2 ) and how do these refer to
the physical quantities?
The data types used are defined by the PUO (PROFIBUS User Organization) in
the PROFIdrive profile.
For the encoTRive the C4 data type is defined for most physical basic units, so that
a decimal value can be represented to a precision of 1/10000.
Information on the interpretation of all data types is explained in chapter 8.2.
Conversion into physical units is explained in chapter 6.4.

What does tracking distance mean?
The tracking distance (parameter 305) defines the maximum difference between
the calculated target position of the position controller and the actual position,
which is generated by the internal encoder system. If the difference is greater than
parameter 305, fault message 700 (tracking error) is output. The following possible
fault causes should be considered:
 Sluggishness of the axis
 Acceleration, speed too high
 Supply voltage too low
 Current setpoint P302 set too low
The adaptation of the tracking distance is freely adjustable. The larger the distance
defined, the longer it will take for the encoTRive to react to a fault cause.
Deactivation of the tracking error monitoring is generally not recommended.
