PROFINET communication with encoTRive

Figure 7: Cyclic communication without PKW channel

Figure 7 shows the telegrams, which are exchanged between PLC and encoTRive as
part of the cyclic data traffic. At the same time, the control word and target position are
transmitted from the IO-Controller to the encoTRive as process data, and in the
opposite direction, the status word and the position value.

5.1.2 Communication relationship for acyclic data exchange

Acyclic data (records) are generally transmitted in this communication relationship.
This mechanism is primarily used to read and write parameters between the object
directory of the encoTRive and the control (e.g. PLC). For this purpose the controller
formulates a command, the encoTRive checks and processes the command and then
formulates the relevant response.
This transmission mechanism serves to read or write parameters which do not
change, or only change rarely or as required, throughout the running time.
In addition various PROFINET services also include records, which are not explained
in more detail here.

5.1.3 Communication relationship for alarms

In this communication relationship for alarms data are sent by the Provider
(encoTRive) to the Consumer (controller) with high priority.
In the case of the encoTRive such data are drive-internal fault messages, which are
sent acyclically to the controller as soon as the fault occurs. Whether the encoTRive
supports this alarm transmission can be set in the device parameterization via the
GSDML file.
