Startup and operation

Startup
1. Check connections for tightness and correct polarity.
Replace damaged connections.
2. Turn on the system.
7.2
UHF Manager configuration software
The Balluff UHF Manager configuration software provides
an easy way to start up the RFID system, test basic
functions and make parameter settings before installation.
A Balluff IO-Link master device with UDP protocol must be
used for commissioning with the UHF-Manager.
7.2.1
Install and start configuration software
The configuration software is available online at
www.balluff.com.
Administrator rights may be required to install
the software. The software is installed under the
preset path (unless it is changed):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Balluff\UHF Manager
1. Start the installation wizard by double-clicking the
installation file (UhfManagerSetup_version.msi) and
follow the wizard instructions.
2. Double-click on the Balluff.Uhf.UhfManager.exe file in
the installation directory to start the configuration
software.

User interface
After connecting the processor unit via TCP/IP or USB (see
chapter 7.2.3 on page 23), the main window is
displayed (see Fig. 7-1).

System information
The left-hand window section displays the system
information of the IO-Link master and the connected
devices. This provides information about the following:

Type designation of the connected master
–
Firmware version of the connected master
–
Connection status of the interface used
–
IO-Link devices connected to the master
–
Currently selected read/write head or IO-Link device
Action area
The action area in the center of the window shows the
data of the data carriers found in the active field of the
antenna and provides the controls necessary to interact
with a data carrier.
Status bar
The status bar below the action area shows the result of
the last executed action.
Information on the operation of the UHF
Manager is provided by the help function. This
can be called up via the Help menu or by
pressing the F1 key.
