Meaning

Functional description

Toggle bit A state change during an assignment indicates that the controller is
ready to receive further data provided by the read/write head.
Head shutoff 1 = Head off (read/write head switched off)
0 = Head on (read/write head in operation)
Basic state 1 = Software reset - causes the BIS to go to the default state
0 = Normal operation
Assignment 1 = New assignment is present
0 = No new assignment or assignment is no longer present

Description of the head shutoff (KA) bit
If a command is triggered when the KA bit is active, the AF
bit is set and an error code is reported. The error remains
present until the AV bit is withdrawn. As long as the KA bit
is set, the following applies:
– an automatic tag search is deactivated, but a tag search
that is in progress is not interrupted
– running commands (such as read or write) are
terminated
– the commands Select and Unselect are not affected by
this
