Active channels

The Active channels parameter can be used to define
which frequencies or channels are used for communication
with the data carrier.
The active channels setting is available only for
devices that operate according to the European
Union standard or a form derived from it.
Further information can be found in the
European standard ETSI EN 302 208 or derived
national standards.
The following ETSI channels can be used:

When using 2...4 channels, these are actuated one after
the other via a frequency hopping procedure. Individual
channels can be activated (1) or deactivated (0) via a bit
mask.

– If only a single channel is active, there may
be delays in detection, since a single
channel may not be in operation
continuously. As of two channels or more,
this problem no longer exists.
– For static applications, the frequency
hopping method can be advantageous,
since local field minimums can be masked
by the frequency change.
– If several processor units are in operation
simultaneously in a confined space, mutual
interference may occur if they operate on
the same channels. In this case, it is
recommended to operate the processor
units on different and distant channels, e.g.
read/write head 1 on channel 4 and read/
write head 2 on channel 13.
