10. Unbalance minimization

If great unbalance is measured at the wheel (e.g. static
unbalance greater than 50 g), it is advisable to minimize
the wheel unbalance by using the unbalance of the rim
to provide compensation for the static unbalance of the
tire.
This involves turning the tire on the rim. Follow the
program instructions.
The procedure is described below.

Access the main balancing page;

Enter the password: r r r and <I>.
« "Unbalance minimization" is opened.

Work as accurately as possible throughout the entire
procedure. Follow the instructions shown on the
monitor.
PHASE 1: Start the "Unbalance minimization" program
1. Close the wheel guard.
« Measurement commences.
PHASE 2: First measurement
1. Turn the wheel until the valve is in the 12 o'clock
position.
2. Press <I>.
« The reference position of the wheel on initial
starting is stored.
3. Make a reference mark on the tyre (corresponding to
the position of the valve).

PHASE 3: Turning the tire on the rim
1. Detach the wheel from the flange.

To turn the tire on the rim it may be necessary to
deflate the tire, unseat it again (using a tire fitter)
and re-inflate after turning.
2. Turn the tyre on the rim through 180 degrees.

The mark previously made provides a guide.
3. Clamp the wheel.
4. Turn the valve to the 12 o'clock position.
5. Press <I>.
« The new position of the wheel on the flange is
stored.
PHASE 4: Saving the new position

Close the wheel guard.
« Measurement commences.
PHASE 5: Reference measurement
Values obtained:

Rim unbalance
$
Current unbalance
$
Tyre unbalance
$
Minimum possible unbalance

After studying the values, further unbalance
minimization is required (PHASE 5 to 7).
1. Turn the wheel until you see a green rectangle.
2. Make double reference mark on the tire (in 12
o'clock position).
