Searing programme
Time:
Preset
Lid (3):
Browning food releases roast aromas (Maillard reaction). The aroma is thereby strengthened and the
taste becomes richer. Use this programme to precook meat or vegetables before using the pressure
cooking or slow cooking programmes. The food also does not need to be taken out of the pan.
1. Proceed as described in the section "Preparing and switching on the appliance".
2. Fill the pan (6) with the food and start the cooking programme as described in the sections "Starting
a cooking programme with individual settings" or "Starting a cooking programme with preset values".
The heating-up phase starts. A beep sounds as soon as the set temperature is reached.
Warning: Never operate the programme with an empty pan (6), to avoid overheating and fire.
Never overfill the pan. Always follow the scale and maximum quantities on the inside of the pan.
When cooking food that expands during the cooking process, e.g. rice or dried vegetables,
the cooker must not be filled more than half way.
Warning: This appliance is not to be used as a deep fryer. Depending on the cooking pro-
gramme, only use some tee spoons of oil for cooking. Food can overcook and run into the appliance
or block the valves. The appliance could overheat and pressure escape explosively, leading to injury
and material damage from hot steam and liquids.
Caution! If you fill the hot pan with liquid or fresh food to sear or braise with the lid open,
fat and water may spray heavily. Never put your hands, arms or face over the pan and never put
delicate objects next to the appliance, to avoid injury and damage. Protect your hands with oven
gloves. Note: This programme only works if the lid is open.
Note: As soon as the programme is finished, you can continue with the pressure cooking or slow
cooking programmes straight away.

Preserving programme
Time:
Preset
Temperature:
A perfect sauce or tasty stock needs to be thickened slightly. This intensifies the taste.
Tip: Add some cold butter to your sauce before serving then mix with a hand-held blender. You will
thereby obtain a gleaming, creamy sauce.
Note: Do not, however, use the pan (6) of your 8-in-1 multi-functional cooker for this as scratches
can damage the non-stick coating. Also follow the instructions on this in the "Cleaning and care"
section.
1. Proceed as described in the section "Preparing and switching on the appliance".
2. If you want to thicken sauces from a previous cooking programme, such as pressure cooking or
slow cooking, first take out meat and vegetables.
3. Proceed as described in the sections "Starting a cooking programme with individual settings" or
"Starting a cooking programme with preset values". Leave the lid open throughout the cooking
process.
Caution: The appliance gets hot. Risk of scalding from steam. Do not move the 8-in-1 multi-
functional cooker when it is under pressure. Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use the handle for
this. If necessary, use gloves. Never put your hands, arms or face over the appliance during its
operation or shortly afterwards, to avoid burns from steam, hot water or food.
4. Once your sauce has reached the desired consistency, add back the meat and vegetables and let the
ingredients infuse for a few more minutes before serving.
Keep-warm function
Time:
1 hour for the pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming and cooking
Preset
rice and pulses programmes
The keep-warm function is automatically activated after the pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming
and cooking rice and pulses programmes and this is shown on the display with the
icon.
Note: The keep-warm function cannot be added manually for other cooking programmes. While keep-
ing warm, condensation may build up in the condensate gutter (8). This is completely normal. When
the condensate gutter is full, condensation builds up in the condensate container (13).
The maximum keep-warm time is 6 hours, but it can be individually adjusted as described in the
section "Starting a cooking programme with individual settings". Once the time has elapsed, the appli-
ance switches automatically to standby mode.
Note: You can also stop this function manually at any time by pressing the start/stop button.
Tip: We recommend dishes are kept warm for one hour, to preserve quality and taste.
