Getting into and out of the power wheelchair

CAUTION
Risk of injury if the power wheelchair starts rolling.
Switch off the control unit before getting into and out of the
power wheelchair. This will automatically engage the mo-
tor brake.
NOTICE
Risk of breaking the arm rests due to excessive strain.
Note that the arm rests are not capable of bearing full
body weight, and therefore must not be used for getting
into or out of the wheelchair.
The modular design of the power wheelchair and the ease
with which you can remove the side panels and footrests
make it easy to get into and out of the wheelchair from the
side or from the front.
Users can get into and out of the wheelchair using the best
method for each individual.

6.2.1 From/to the side

Getting into the wheelchair from the side requires the user to
remove the right or left side panel depending on the side where
C1000 DS
the user will get into the wheelchair. Bring the power wheel-
chair as close as possible to the place where its user is sitting.
If the control panel is located on the side where the user is
getting in or out, carefully remove the control panel. Remove
the side panel as described in Section 6.1.4 (remove the
footrest if necessary; see Section 6.1.5).
The user can then slide onto the wheelchair seat from the
side. Use of a transfer board will make this even easier.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the front lighting. Do not swing the foot-
rests to the outside or damage to the front lighting may occur.

6.2.2 From / to the front

Flipping up the two footplates makes it possible for the user
to get into and out of the wheelchair from the front (Figure
16). If required, it is also possible to remove the footrests from
their adapter after swinging them out of the way (Figure 17;
please observe the safety information in Section 6.1.5).
The assistance of an attendant or a transfer lifter makes it
easy for the user to get into or out of the power wheelchair.
A rotation plate offers support.
