Secure the battery to the holder with the included rubber
band. When the Range Extender battery is not in use, the
rubber band can stay in the bottom of the mount.
OPERATION OF THE RANGE EXTENDER
POWER DELIVERY TO THE MOTOR
The Range Extender powers the Shimano EP801 or EP6 directly. When using your Orbea bicycle compatible with the Range Ex-
tender connected, only the Range Extender will supply power to the motor until the Range Extender's charge is exhausted.
Once the Range Extender has run out, the internal battery will switch to providing power to the motor if it has any remaining
charge. At this moment, the display, remote control or Orbea RS Toolbox data field will switch to showing the charge level of
the internal battery only.
CONNECTION TO THE BICYCLE
If you have connected the Range Extender to the bike and it is off, when you turn on the bicycle, the assistance system will rec-
ognise the external battery as part of it and only the Range Extender will provide power to the motor. You do not need to press
the button on the Range Extender to turn it on.
If the bike was already on when you connected the Range Extender, the system will recognise the external battery as part of it
and only the Range Extender will provide power to the motor. You do not need to press the button on the Range Extender to
turn it on.
TURN OFF THE RANGE EXTENDER CONNECTED TO THE BIKE: When the Range Extender is connected to the bike and the
bike is turned on, you can turn off the Range Extender by pressing the main button of the Range Extender for 3 seconds. In this
case, the bike will remain on and the system will be powered solely by the internal battery.
It is not possible to turn the Range Extender back on by pressing the main button on the Range Extender while it is connected
to the turned on bike. In this case you need to turn off the bicycle (with the Range Extender still connected) and turn the bicycle
back on again for the system to recognise the external battery again.
If the Range Extender is disconnected from the powered on bike (having previously turned the Range Extender off) and you re-
connect the Range Extender to the powered bike, the system will not recognise the Range Extender. The bike will need to be
turned off and on again for the system to recognise the Range Extender.
DISCONNECTING THE RANGE EXTENDER
To disconnect the Range Extender from the bike, twist the locking tab on the Range Extender connection cable and carefully
pull on the Range Extender cable connector. Once the cable has been disconnected, close the cover of the bike's charging
point.
If the Range Extender is disconnected from the bicycle's charging point while it is on, the bicycle will turn off, and you need to
turn the bicycle on again so that the system is powered solely by the internal battery.
