FITTING OC MOUNTAIN CONTROL STEMS

This is a general fitting guide for OC MC (Mountain Control)
stems. See the specific section for your stem model to find
the specific tightening torques and their components.
1. The MC (Mountain Control) stems have a stop in the
area where the stem is attached to ensure that the
recommended torque is not exceeded. Check the
correct installation of the stop when mounting the
stem. This stop is not essential, if you do not have it,
be sure to follow the tightening torque instructions
for the stem bolts for each OC stem model.
2. With the HS02 headset already installed on the bike
(see headset installation section), insert the MC stem
into the fork tube, fitting its rear profile with that of
the specific HS02–05 collector.
Check that the fork tube is positioned above the
upper stem clamp bolt. The distance between the top
end of the fork steerer tube and the stem preload cap
installation surface should be at least 3 mm to allow
for proper headset preloading.
3. It is possible to install HS02–07 (5 mm) or HS02–08
(10 mm) one-piece profiled spacers above the stem,
always ensuring that the upper bolt of the stem cover
threads far enough into the fork tube starnut to allow
correct compression of the headset assembly.
On bicycle models without Spinblock function, it is
also possible to use these spacers between the stem
and the SIC HS02 manifold.
4. If installing carbon handlebars, apply a light layer of
carbon paste on the contact surface of the handlebar
with the stem. For aluminium handlebars, the
application of any compound between the stem and
the handlebar is not required.
