Tracking Height
Adjust the tracking height adjustment knob to align the optical audio lenses with the audio
tracks on 16mm and 35mm film. Ensure the lenses are covering each discrete audio track
without clipping the other. You can gauge the strength of the audio by capturing a Combined
Optical film, or ComOpt, and reviewing the waveform and FFT in the DaVinci Resolve Fairlight
page using the 'Frequency Analyser' tool. Alternatively you can use a third party live analyser
tool if available via the headphone output port or the Desktop Video audio device for
the Scanner.
Azimuth
The azimuth for the optical block is preset at the factory. Only carry out the steps below in the
unlikely event that you need to adjust the azimuth.
1
Release the azimuth lock M3 screw using a 1.5mm HEX driver.
2
Using a high frequency stereo 35mm test tone film, turn the azimuth M2 adjustment screw
to ensure that the left and right audio channels are aligned and in phase.
3
When satisfied with the results, set the azimuth by locking the azimuth lock screw.
NOTE
Occasionally, locking the azimuth lock screw can slightly affect the azimuth
settings. If this occurs, simply repeat the steps above.
Once you have completed the calibration of the magnetic head and optical audio block, place
the front cover back on and refit the four M3 captive screws with a 2.5mm HEX driver. With the
cover secure, you can reattach the adjustment knob using a 1.5mm Hex driver.
