Inserting the 8mm Inner Spacer
Insert the metal 8mm inner spacer at the base of the feeding and taking spools.
The rubber spacer goes on the grooved side inwards prior to a reel.
Optional Additional Spacers
Additional 1mm rubber spacers are included in the 8mm gate kit for when mounting different
style reels. You can use these spacers on either side of the reel as required if you need to
adjust the alignment of the film reel with your scanner's rollers.
Mounting your Film
After mounting your 8mm reel to the feeding spool and an empty film reel to the taking spool,
you'll need to install the outer spacer to secure the spools. Once this is in place, secure the
reels as you would normally.
TIP
If you are loading Super 8mm film, fit
the supplied Super 8mm reel adapters to
each reel. The adapters ensure the reel is
correctly mounted on the spindle.
Lacing
Complete the lacing procedure as you would for 35mm film. Before pressing 'load' or manually
tensioning your 8mm film, make sure the film is properly threaded over the drive wheels
smoothly to avoid damage to the film.
Switching Between 8mm Film Gauges
The optional 8mm gate features adjustable aperture shutters for switching between Standard
8mm, Super 8mm and Max 8mm film. Adjusting the aperture shutters to the film's non active
image area reduces film edge 'flare' and helps optimize image stability tracking regions.
