7. Before commissioning

m ATTENTION! Do not start the engine until the
chainsaw has been fully assembled and checked.
m ATTENTION! Always wear high-strength gloves
when handling the saw chain or adjusting it.
Installing the guide rail and the saw chain (Fig. 3-6)
Open the packaging and fit the guide rail and saw
chain as follows:
1. Press the front hand guard (3) backwards (Fig.
14/pos. 3a) so that the chain brake is deactivated.
2. Loosen the two nuts (B) and remove the chain
drive housing cover (17).
3. Installing the claw stop (Fig. 3)
Insert the stop claw (19) into the recesses of the
housing (see Fig. 3) and secure it with the two fix-

ing screws (19a). Use the tool supplied with the
assembly tools (10).
4. Push the saw chain around the saw chain wheel.
Then push the saw chain around the guide rail.
Pay attention to the installation direction of the
saw chain. (Fig. 4-5)
5. Insert the saw chain tensioning screw (Z) into the
lower hole of the guide rail (Y). (Fig. 4)
6. Fit the chain drive housing cover (17) and tighten
the nuts (B) by hand.
Installation direction of the saw chain (see Fig. 5)
Tensioning the saw chain (Fig. 6-8)
1. Hold the front part of the guide rail firmly with
your hand.
2. Set the saw chain tension using the tensioning
screw (C) so that the saw chain is completely
against the guide rail but is not under excessive
tension.
3. Tighten the fixing nut (B) for the guide rail using
the spark plug wrench (approx. 12-15 Nm).
4. Use your hand to check that the saw chain runs
smoothly on the guide rail and has the correct
tension.
5. If necessary, adjust the saw chain tension.
If the chain has to be re-tensioned.
Adjusting the chain tension
Correct saw chain tension is extremely important and
must be checked before starting operation and at reg-
ular intervals during all sawing work. If you take the
time to adjust the saw chain, you will improve your
sawing results and extend the chain's service life.
m NOTE
If the saw chain is too loose or too tight, the drive
wheel, guide rail and crankshaft bearing will wear out
more quickly.
m NOTE
A new saw chain stretches so that it has to be re-ad-
justed after around 5 sawing procedures. This is nor-
mal for new saw chains and the interval for future ad-
justments increases after a short time.
Fuel and saw chain oil
m ATTENTION! Fuel and saw chain oil are high-
ly flammable. Do not smoke or expose the device to
open flames when using it.
Fuel
For best results, use normal, unleaded fuel (max. 5%
bioethanol) mixed with special 2-stroke oil.
