4. Top up with petrol before starting the engine.
Never remove the fuel tank filler cover or add pet-
rol while the engine is running or still hot.
5. If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine,
but move the machine out of the area of the spilled
fuel and avoid all sources of ignition until all fu-
el vapours have dissipated. Securely reattach the
fuel tank cover and the cap of the canister.
Filling up with fuel
• Always switch off the engine before refuelling.
m ATTENTION! Always open the fuel cap care-
fully so that the existing overpressure can be re-
leased slowly.
• When working with the device, high temperatures
can occur on the housing. Allow the device to com-
pletely cool off before refueling.
m ATTENTION! If the device has not cooled
down sufficiently, the fuel could ignite during refu-
elling and cause serious burns.
• Be careful not to overfill the tank with fuel. If you
spill fuel, remove the fuel immediately and clean
the device.
• Always close the fuel tank cover properly to pre-
vent it from coming loose due to the vibrations that
occur when the device is in operation.
m DANGER
Do not refuel the machine near an open flame.
Special safety regulations when using internal
combustion engines
m DANGER
Internal combustion engines pose a particular dan-
ger during operation and refuelling. Always read and
observe the warning information. It can cause seri-
ous or even fatal injuries if not observed.
1. It is prohibited to make any modifications to the
device.
2. m ATTENTION! Danger of poisoning; exhaust,
fuel, lubricant vapour, sawdust, and lubricants are
poisonous, exhaust may not be inhaled.
3. m ATTENTION! Danger of burns, do not touch
exhaust system and drive engine.
4. Do not operate the device in unventilated rooms
or in highly flammable environments.
5. m Risk of explosion! Never operate the device
in rooms with highly flammable substances.
6. During transport, the device must be secured
against slipping and tipping.
7. Take care not to spill fuel on the engine or ex-
haust pipe when refuelling.
8. Repair and adjustment work may only be carried
out by authorised specialist personnel.
9. Do not touch any mechanically moving or hot
parts. Do not remove any protective covers.
10. Values specified in the technical data under
sound power level (L
(L
) represent emission levels and are not nec-
PA
essarily safe working levels.
Since there is a correlation between emission
and exposure levels, it cannot be reliably used
to determine any additional precautionary meas-
ures that may be required. Factors influencing the
current emmission level of the worker include the
characteristics of the work space, other sources
of noise, etc., such as the number of machines
and other adjacent processes and the length of
time an operator is exposed to the noise. The per-
mitted exposure level may also vary from country
to country. Nevertheless, this information will en-
able the operator of the machine to make a better
assessment of the risks and hazards.
11. Never insert objects into the ventilation slots. This
also applies when the device is switched off. Fail-
ure to comply may result in injury or damage to
the device.
12. Keep the device free from oil, dirt and other con-
taminants.
13. Ensure that the silencer and air filter are working
properly. These parts serve as flame protection in
the event of a misfire.
14. Switch off the engine:
− Whenever you leave the machine
− Prior to topping up fuel
15. Never use the choke to stop the engine.
5.4 Safety functions of the electric chainsaw
(Fig.1, 2)
1 SAW CHAIN WITH LOW KICK-BACK helps you
to reduce and better absorb recoil forces with spe-
cially developed safety devices.
3 THE FRONT HAND GUARD protects the left
hand of the operating person should it slip off the
front handle while the electric chainsaw is running.
3 THE CHAIN BRAKE is a safety function for min-
imising injuries from kick-backs by stopping a run-
ning saw chain in milliseconds. It is activated by the
FRONT HAND GUARD.
8 THE THROTTLE LOCK prevents accidental ac-
celeration of the engine. The throttle lever can on-
ly be pressed when the throttle interlock is pressed.
11 ON/OFF SWITCH stops the engine immediately
when it is switched off. The stop switch must be set to
ON to start the engine (again).
18 THE CHAIN CATCHER minimises the risk of in-
juries if the saw chain breaks or slips when the en-
gine is running. The chain catcher is designed to
catch a flapping saw chain.
