Prolonged storage/winter storage
1. In the event of prolonged storage/winter storage,
drain all fuel. Fuels are chemical compounds that
change their properties during prolonged stor-
age. If the fuel tank needs to be drained, this
must be done outdoors.
Do not store and use the chainsaw at temperatures
below 0°C!
m WARNING
Improper maintenance or failure to observe or cor-
rect a problem can become a source of danger dur-
ing operation. Only operate regularly and properly
maintained machines. This is the only way you can
be sure that you are operating your device safely,
economically and trouble-free.
Do not clean, maintain, adjust or repair the machine
while it is running. Moving parts can cause serious
injuries.
Do not use petrol or other flammable solvents to
clean machine parts.
m WARNING
Fuel and solvent vapours can explode.
After repair and maintenance work, reattach the pro-
tective and safety equipment to the device.
Make sure that the device is in a safe operating con-
dition. In particular, check the fuel system for leaks.
Always clean any dirt off the engine cooling fins.
m DANGER
m In accordance with the applicable product liability
laws, the manufacturer of this device assumes no li-
ability for damage to the device or caused by the de-
vice arising from:
• Installing and replacing non-original spare parts,
• Removing or changing safety components.

5.7 Working instructions

m Important instructions
1. Switch off the engine if the chainsaw comes into
contact with a foreign object. Check the chainsaw
and repair it if necessary.
2. Protect the saw chain from dirt and sand. Even
small amounts of dirt cause the saw chain to dull
quickly and increase the risk of a kick-back reaction.
3. Start by sawing smaller logs for practice to get
a feel for your device before tackling more diffi-
cult tasks.
4. Operate the throttle and apply full throttle before
you start cutting.
5. Press the housing of the electric chainsaw
against the tree trunk when you start sawing.
6. Keep the throttle fully open during the entire cut-
ting process.
7. Let the chainsaw work for you. Apply only light
downward pressure.
8. Release the throttle as soon as you have finished
your work so that the engine idles. If you let the
device run at full throttle without load, unneces-
sary wear will occur.
9. To avoid losing control of the device after the
saw chain has come out of the wood, do not ap-
ply pressure to the chainsaw towards the end of
the cut.
10. Check the idle setting after starting. The saw unit
must be at a standstill at idle. If the cutting device
moves at idle, the idle speed must be reduced
(see "Setting the idle speed").
11. Stop the engine before setting down the chain-
saw.
12. If the device becomes jammed whilst cutting,
it must be turned off immediately and carefully
freed. Then the device should be checked for
damage (e.g. bent guide rail) and then a trial run
should be carried out.
13. Before carrying out the final cut, check to ensure
that there are no bystanders, animals or obsta-
cles are in the area where debris may land.
14. Branches that are tensioned must be cut from
underneath in an upwards motion in order to en-
sure that the chainsaw does not become jammed.
15. In order to maintain full control at the moment of
cutting all the way through, reduce the pressing
force towards the end of the cut, without loosen-
ing your firm grip of the handles of the chainsaw.
Ensure that the saw chain does not come into
contact with the ground.
Kick-back
• When working with the chainsaw, you may en-
counter a hazardous kick-back.
• This kick-back arises if the top area of the rail tip
accidentally comes into contact with wood or an-
other solid object.
• Before the saw chain is guided into the cutting ar-
ea, it can slip away to the side or jump up.
(ATTENTION! Increased risk of kickback!)
• The chainsaw could be thrown or pushed towards
the operator in an uncontrolled manner and with
high energy (risk of injury!).
Observe the following in order to avoid kick-backs:
• Plunge work (directly plunging the rail tip into the
wood) may only be performed by specially trained
personnel!
