1.
Release the hand wheel (13) and take off the chain
cover (12). (Fig. 2)
2.
Turn the chain tensioning wheel (11) clockwise to
move the guide rail (7) as close to the chain wheel
as possible. (Fig. 3)
3.
Place the saw chain (6) around the guide rail (7),
starting at the top section of the bar. Insert the
saw chain (6) in the circumferential groove (Fig. 4).
When inserting the saw chain, observe the cor-
rect running direction of the chain.
4.
Place the guide rail (7) with the elongated hole on
the stud bolt and guide pin on the chainsaw. (Fig.
5)
5.
Place the saw chain (6) around the chain tension-
ing wheel (11).
6.
Turn the chain tensioning wheel (11) anti-clock-
wise, to tension the saw chain (6). The saw chain
(6) must not sag, although it should be possible to
pull it 1 - 2 millimetres away from the guide rail in
the centre of the guide rail (7). (Fig. 6)
7.
Turn the saw chain (6) by hand, to check it runs free-
ly. It must glide freely in the guide rail (7). (Fig. 7)
8.
Fit the chain cover (12). Tighten the hand wheel (13)
for fastening the guide rail (7) and chain cover (12).
NOTE
The tension of a new chain must be checked after a
few minutes in operation, and adjusted if necessary.
To do so switch the device off, remove the battery and
apply the chain brake.
9.2
Fill in chain oil (Fig. 8)
m CAUTION!
• Only add environmentally friendly, good quality
chain lubricating oil (per RAL-UZ 48) to the chain
saw.
• Do not add used oil. Used oil can cause skin can-
cer with extended and repeated skin contact, and
is damaging to the environment! Used oil does not
have the necessary lubricating characteristics and
is unsuitable for chain lubrication.
• An oil other than the recommended oil can cause
damage to the rail, chain and lubrication system.
• Make sure that no dirt gets into the oil tank.
• Avoid oil spillages. Always wipe up spilled oil.
1.
Unscrew the oil tank plug (14).
2.
Carefully add the chain lubricating oil until it
reaches the top mark on the oil level indicator
(15). Oil tank capacity: max. 180 ml
3.
Screw the oil tank plug (14) on tightly by hand.
9.3
Inserting/replacing the rechargeable battery
(Fig. 9 + 10)
1.
Charge the rechargeable battery (18) as described
in the operating manual for the charging unit.
2.
Press the charged rechargeable battery (18) into
the device until it latches fully.
3.
To remove, press the unlock button and pull the
rechargeable battery (18) out.
m CAUTION! When not in use, protect the battery con-
tacts. Loose metal parts could short-circuit the battery,
which results in a risk of explosion and fire!

10. Before commissioning

10.1
Chain brake
m WARNING!
The chain brake must be checked before each use.
The chain brake brakes the saw chain immediately in
the event of kick-back.
1.
Make sure that the hand guard (9) is free of dirt
and moves easily.
2.
Start the chainsaw and accelerate the saw chain
to full speed (full throttle).
3.
With the saw chain running, operate the hand
guard (9). The chain brake must brake and lock
the saw chain at max. speed.
m WARNING! Increased engine speed for too long
with the chain brake locked will damage the engine
and the chain drive. If the saw chain (6) still moves,
contact the customer service.
10.1.1 Manual activation of the chain brake (Fig. 11)
1.
Tilt the hand guard (9) in the direction of the guide
rail tip.
10.1.2 Releasing the chain brake (Fig. 12)
1.
Draw the hand guard (9) in the direction of the
bow-type handle (10).

10.1.3 Checking the chain brake

1.
Set the chainsaw down on a firm surface.
2.
Release the chain brake.
3.
Hold the chainsaw tight in both hands.
4.
Switch the chainsaw on. The saw chain (6) starts
running.
5.
Tilt the hand guard (9) in the direction of the guide
rail tip. The chain must come to an immediate
standstill! If the saw chain (6) still moves, contact
the customer service.
