5.1 General safety instructions

m ATTENTION! When working with fuel-powered
tools, the following basic rules must always be ob-
served to reduce the risk of personal injury and/or
damage to the device.
Read these instructions before using the chain-
saw and keep them safe.
1. Do not operate the chainsaw if you are tired, ill or
under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
2. Please be careful when handling fuel. Start the
chainsaw at a distance of at least 3 m from the fu-
el filling point.
3. Do not start cutting until the work area has been
cleared, you have a secure footing and you have
planned a retreat path for the falling tree.
4. Before starting the chainsaw, ensure that it is not
touching anything.
5. Only carry the chainsaw when the engine has
stopped, the guide rail is in the guide rail cover
and the exhaust is pointing away from your body.
6. Do not operate a chainsaw that is damaged, in-
correctly adjusted, or incomplete and loosely as-
sembled. Ensure that the chainsaw stops when
the chain brake is applied.
7. Switch off the engine before setting the chainsaw
down.
8. When cutting small bushes and saplings, be ex-
tremely careful, as the thin branches can get
caught in the chainsaw and be thrown in your di-
rection or pull you off balance.
9. When sawing a branch under tension, be aware
of a possible kick-back when the tension in the
wood suddenly releases.
10. Ensure that the handles are dry, clean and free
from oil or fuel mixture.
11. Do not cut down a tree with a chainsaw unless
you have received the appropriate training.
12. Any maintenance of the chainsaw, other than that
specified in this user and maintenance manual,
must be carried out by an authorised service cen-
tre.
13. Attach the cover of the guide rail for transport and
storage of the chainsaw.
14. Do not work with the chainsaw near or in the
presence of flammable liquids or gases, wheth-
er outdoors or indoors. There is a risk of explo-
sion and/or fire.
15. Do not add fuel, oil or lubricant while the chain-
saw is running.
16. Use only suitable sawing material: Only use the
saw on wood. Do not use the chainsaw for work
for which it is unsuitable. Do not use the chain-
saw to cut plastic, masonry or non-building ma-
terials.
