Safety instructions

3.1

Mechanical hazards

Risk of injury from sharp edges and corners!
Edges and corners can cause skin abrasions
and cuts.
Safety measures:
Use caution when working near sharp edges and
corners.
Use protective gear, e.g. gloves.
Risk of injury from slippery surfaces!
Slippery surfaces can cause slipping, tripping
and falls.
Safety measures:
Make sure to use non-slip mats or other anti-slip
protection around the brake tester.
Risk of injury due to height above ground!
Elevated surfaces can cause falls.
Safety measures:
Mark accessible parts of the brake tester or test lane
people might step on. Danger symbol "No step".

Danger of tripping

When conducting tests or making adjust-
ments, the sensor and connection cables in-
crease the risk of tripping.
Safety measures:
Route the connecting cables such that any risk of
tripping up is prevented.

Risk of injury, risk of crushing

During transportation, commissioning and
operation, there is a risk of injury and damage
from falling objects.
Safety measures:
Wear safety shoes.
Use protective gear, e.g. gloves.
Always observe the operating instructions regarding
transportation and commissioning.
There is a risk of injury from moving parts
during commissioning, operation and main-
tenance of the Brake Test Equipment. Hair or
clothing can get caught in rotating parts.
Safety measures:
Do not trigger or energize sensing links or sensing
rollers manually. It might the automatic drive-out
assistance system. After automatic triggering, the
motors start up for up to 3 seconds, endangering
anyone in the immediate vicinity of the roller set!
Do not step on the swing plates. When both swing
plates of the suspension tester are under a load of
more than 60 kg simultaneously, the test bench will
start up.
Test benches on top of a working pit may only be
operated with protection in place (pit guard). The
pit guard prevents people from entering the vicinity
of rotating vehicle parts such as vehicle drive shafts
and vehicle wheels as well as test bench rollers.
Always mind the rollers and plates when walking
past and getting in and out of vehicles.
During the brake test, make sure there is no one in
the immediate vicinity of the rotating drive rollers.
Install an information sign (Attention – brake test!).
Place permanent painted warnings or barriers on the
floor (mandatory).
