4.2.4 Testing motorcycles
Brake tester for passenger vehicles and brake tester
for commercial vehicles
Risk of injury from rotating parts!
When testing motorcycles, the rotating parts
on the motorcycle and brake tester can catch
on, draw in, rub against or graze body parts.
Safety measures:
¶
Test motorcycles only with personal protective
equipment:

Safety goggles (motorcycle helmet)
$
Safety shoes
$
Protective clothing for motorcyclists
¶
Use the standard cover (clipped in or hinged) on the
right-hand side of the rollers.
¶
If the brake tester is operated without the right-hand
cover, make sure that there are no people nearby
when testing.
¶
Keep in mind that the clearance above the rollers is
limited when riding across the roller set.
¶
Due to the working principle of the rollers, the wheel
might drift during testing. If that happens, correct
the drift by steering in the other direction.
¶
If the brake tester has no motor brake, start the mea-
surement first and then ride the motorcycle off the
roller set.
Risk of injury due to height above ground!
Safety measures:

If the brake tester is located on top of a working pit,
make sure the working pit is covered.

Use the motorcycle cover on the left-hand side of the
rollers.

4.3 Lifting device
Risk of injury from rotating parts!
When testing double and triple axles, the
lifting device will also lift an axle that is not to
be tested. That axle may also rotate and catch
on or draw in body parts.
Safety measures:

As the operator, make sure there are no people in
the danger zone.
¶
As the operator, mark and block off the danger zone.
