Safety Instructions

2.1

Laser radiation

Laser radiation can damage the retina. Serious
eye injuries could result.
Safety measures:
Never point the laser beam at people, particularly at
their face or eyes.
Never look directly at the laser source.
Avoid reflections, e.g. by covering up or removing
any reflective surfaces in the vicinity of the laser
beam.
Observe the intended use.
The term laser equipment refers to devices, systems or
test set-ups generating, transmitting or employing laser
radiation. The class of the laser device indicates the
level of potential danger associated with its accessible
laser radiation.
Taking medication or alcohol consumption
will slow down the reflex action of the eye-
lids. This increases the risk of laser-induced
eye injuries. Wearing laser safety glasses of
protection level RB1 is recommended for
anyone who is under the influence of medi-
cation.
Class 3R laser
The accessible laser radiation becomes a danger to the
eyes if the beam cross-section is reduced by optical
instruments. It does not represent a risk to the eyes as
long as the cross-section is not reduced by optical inst-
ruments (magnifying glasses, lenses, telescopes)! If this
is not the case, the laser radiation emitted in the visible
spectral range (400 nm to 700 nm) is not a hazard pro-
vided that the exposure time is short (up to 0.25 s).

Laser of class 1M
Warning - visible radiation through laser!
(laser class 1M, DIN EN 60825-1:2008)
Failure to observe the following measures and
information may result in irreversible damage
to the eyes (blindness).
Operation:
The accessible laser radiation is not dange-
rous to the eyes provided that no optical in-
struments (for example magnifying glasses,
lenses or telescopes) are held in front of
the laser beams.
It is recommended, even without optical
instruments, not to look directly into the
laser beam.
2.2

Risk of asphyxiation

The inhalation of carbon monoxide from
a vehicle exhaust can cause fatal asphyxiation.
Safety measures:
Ensure good ventilation.
Install a suitable exhaust gas extraction system.
