Piston pin and bearing inspection
1. Inspect:
Piston pins
Bearings
Signs of heat discoloration → Replace.
2. Measure:
Piston pin outside diameter
(with a micrometer 1)
Out of specification → Replace.
Piston pin outside diameter:
Standard
19.995 ~ 20.000 mm
(0.7872 ~ 0.7874 in)
Limit
19.98 mm (0.786 in)
3. Check:
Piston-pin-to-piston free play
(with the piston pin in the piston as
shown)
Free play → Replace the piston pin,
piston or both.
4. Check:
Piston-pin-to-connecting-rod free play
(with the piston pin in the small end
of the connecting rod as shown)
Free play/small end wear → Replace
the piston pin, connecting rod or
both.
