8.3 Adjusting the rotational function
The torsional stiffness of the DeltaTwist can be individually adapted to the patient
by exchanging the Elastomer Plates. The DeltaTwist comes with MEDIUM (yellow)
Elastomer Plates preinstalled.
The DeltaTwist rotational function can be set in a variety of ways (for example, the inner
rotation can be set softer than the outer rotation if indicated).
Very stiff EXTRA-HARD durometer Elastomer Plates (Black), which suppress the rotati-
onal function, are available as an accessory (article number 709H5=4). The DeltaTwist
must be disassembled in order to exchange the Elastomer Plates.
8.3.1 Disassembly
Notice: To avoid damage to the DeltaTwist, the Elastomer Rod must not be held under tension by
the tensioning screw.
1) To set the tension to a minimum, use a Allen Head Wrench (Size 6) to turn the red tension screw
counter-clockwise (Fig. 2).
2) Remove the Threaded Bushing with Inner Friction Bearing from the DeltaTwist housing with the
hook wrench, as shown analogously in Fig. 11.
3) Turn the blue retaining screw counter-clockwise with a Allen Wrench (Size 10).Hold the DeltaTwist
horizontally and make sure no inner parts fall out.
4) Turn the blue retaining screw until the inner parts can be taken out.
5) Lever the Elastomer Plate out with the tip located on the Combination Wrench (Fig. 6).
6) If the patient wants only the vertical compression or only one rotational direction, you can suppress
the function by installing the EXTRA HARD Elastomer Plate (articlenumber 709H5=4). If the patient
wants full rotational function, fit the Elastomer Plates for inner rotation and the Elastomer Plates for
outer rotation based on the information in Table 3 below.
Notice: Remember that you can select a durometer for the inner rotation that is softer than the
durometer for the outer rotation. (See section 6.2).

Example: The patient weight is 83 kg. For the internal rotation a durometer of MEDIUM (yellow) can
be employed. For the external rotation the HARD durometer can be employed, as well as the MEDIUM
durometer.
