Example 1: The patient weight is 72 kg. An Elastomer Rod with a SOFT durometer is recommended,
although the harder option, MEDIUM is also acceptable. A HARD durometer Elastomer Rod will
suppress the vertical compression too much.
Example 2: The patient weight is 83 kg. An Elastomer Rod with a MEDIUM or HARD Durometer
is recommended. The SOFT variation is not recommended.
8.2.2 Assembly
1) Lubricate the selected Elastomer Rod with 633F30 Lubricant.
2) Place the Elastomer Rod in the DeltaTwist.
3) Turn the green locking screw into the DeltaTwist and tighten until it is hand tight (approx. 4 Nm).
8.2.3 Setting the tension
The tension setting prevents the compression of the DeltaTwist when standing on both legs, and also
guarantees that the length of the unloaded prosthesis does not increase (i.e., in swing-phase). The
patient can select more or less tension. Make sure that the installed Elastomer Rod has no play in it.
1) Use an Allen Wrench (Size 6) to unscrew the red tension screw (counter-clockwise)all the way to
the stop. When you reach the stop you will find a noticeable resistance, which can be loaded with
a maximum of 4 Nm (hand tight). This is the starting point for setting the tension.
2) Use Table 2 below to determine the number of turns needed to set the red tension screw.

3) Turn the red tension screw equal to the number of turns recommended in the table. The tension
screw must not be tightened more than 8 turns. After 8 turns you will reach a stop, which will offer
a noticeable resistance. This stop can be loaded with a maximum of 4 Nm (hand tight).
8.2.4 Setting the Amount of vertical compression
The pre-tension for the DeltaTwist should set so that it compresses no more than 1 mm when standing
on both legs, and no more than 4 mm while walking.
For ease of use, a black Indicator Ring has been included (Fig. 5a and 5b) that can stay on the
DeltaTwist.
Ask the patient to stand equally on both legs (to check this, the Ottobock L.A.S.A.R. Posture can be
employed). Press the Indicator Ring to the blue Wiper Ring (Fig. 5a). Finally, ask the patient remove
all weight from the DeltaTwist. The Indicator Ring should not rise completely above the edge of the
Housing (Fig. 5b).
