7.4 Model 4R121=30 with tube
For transtibial fittings the DeltaTwist 4R121=30 Pyramid Receiver must be fitted distally. Please be
sure that the tube section has the necessary length required by the respective connector, and also
make sure that the tube is inserted deeply enough into the connection components.
7.5 Model 4R121=34 with tube
For transtibial fittings the DeltaTwist 4R121=34 Pyramid Receiver must be fitted distally. Please pay
attention to the markings for minimal length to avoid damaging the DeltaTwist! Please also make sure
that the tube is inserted deeply enough into the connection components.
7.6 Cutting the tube
Do not clamp tube in vise! The cut edge must be even and make a right angle with the length of the tube.
To cut the DeltaTwist 4R121=30 and 4R121=34, please use a tube cutter (such as the Ottobock
Tube Cutter 719R2) and apply at a right angle. The tube must be deburred inside and out (as with
the Ottobock Pipe Reamer 718R1) and should fit evenly against the inside wall of the Tube clamp.
7.7 Maintenance instructions
Notice:
As a basic principle, all Ottobock modular adapters are subjected to tests involving three
million load cycles. Depending on the amputee's activity this corresponds to a service life of
three to five years.
We recommend carrying out regular safety checks once a year.
8 Exchanging the elastomer elements and individualizing the adjustment
8.1 General information
Never place the DeltaTwist in a vise, clamping chuck or similar tool to loosen the screws. Avoid pla-
cing any unusual strain on the DeltaTwist body. To loosen or tighten the Threaded Bushing with Inner
Friction Bearing follow directions as shown analogously in Fig. 11. Notice that the Hook Wrench has
a sharp tip at the end for removing the Elastomer Plates.
After disassembly the distal and proximal bearings as well as the Elastomer elements and the plastic
rotational sections should be wiped clean of all lubricants. Apply liberal amounts of new lubricant
before reassembly. Use the included 633F30 Lubricant for this purpose.
8.2 Customizing the vertical compression characteristics
The DeltaTwist comes with the MEDIUM Elastomer Rod pre-installed. The vertical compres-
sion can be individually adjusted for the patient by interchanging the Elastomer Rods.
8.2.1 Disassembly
Notice: To avoid damage to the DeltaTwist, tension on the DeltaTwist should be reduced to a minimum.
1) To reduce the tension to a minimum, turn the red tensioning screw (counter-clockwise) all the way
to the stop (Fig. 2) with an Allen Wrench (Size 6).
2) Remove the green locking screw by unscrewing counter-clockwise with an Allen Wrench (Size 6)
or a Socket Wrench (Size 11) (Fig. 3). For DeltaTwist models 4R121=30 and 4R121=34 use a
Socket Wrench with Extension.
3) To remove the Elastomer Rod, shake it out of the DeltaTwist (Fig. 4).
4) Use the table below to select the durometer of the desired Elastomer Rod.:
