Preparation and Installation

4.3.1

General Information

Gebrüder Martin only guarantees the proper functioning of the device only if the following rules are
observed:
• National requirements for installation and operation
• National requirements for fire and explosion prevention
• The recognized rules applicable when connecting sterilized device components to non-sterile
equipment!
Danger of injury from electric shock!
To prevent any risk of electric shock, this device may only be connected to a 100–240 VAC power supply
system having a protective conductor.
The SonicWeld Rx® system requires special precautions regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), so
when setting it up and putting it into operation, be sure to follow the EMC instructions provided in this
user manual, see section 10, "Guidelines and Manufacturer's Declaration Regarding Electromagnetic
Compatibility (EMC)", page 86.
Portable and mobile RF communication equipment can adversely affect the SonicWeld Rx® system.
4.3.2
Setting up SonicWeld Rx®
The SonicWeld Rx® ultrasonic unit (1, front fold-out page):
• must always be placed on a level, dry and solid surface.
• must be set up and operated in the non-sterile area of the operating environment.
• Connect the handpiece (8, front fold-out page) to the connecting socket (2, front fold-out page). After
inserting the plug of the connecting cable fully into the socket and rotate to lock it in place.
• The connecting cable of the handpiece is approximately 2.95 m long. If this length is not sufficient, an
additional handpiece with a 6-m connecting cable is available as well.
