Preparatory Measures

Verify the system's readiness for operation prior to each use!
Be sure to check prior to each intraoperative use that the SonicWeld Rx® is ready for operation!
Danger of burns!
If the activation button (10, front fold-out page) has been operated, the sonotrode can cause burns when
allowed to make tissue contact. The sonotrode can reach temperatures above 60 °C.
• Avoid contact with skin, eyes, etc.!
Glove damage by sonotrode tip
The sonotrode must be handled with special care to avoid glove perforation and user injury by the tip of
the sonotrode.
Danger of infection in case of sterile glove damage!
There is a risk of sterile glove perforation when touching the sonotrode.
• When working with the sonotrode, be sure to avoid:
− perforation of the sterile gloves
− user or patient injury by contact with the hot tip of the sonotrode
• Once the mains cable has been connected first to the unit and then to a mains socket-outlet with
ground contact, the unit automatically goes into standby mode.
• Turn on the unit with the On/Standby switch (4, front fold-out page).
• Press the handpiece to start the functional test. Take care to keep the tip of the sonotrode out of touch
with objects during this process!
• Upon determining the depth and diameter of the pilot hole to be drilled in accordance with the
indication, select the appropriate SonicPin and drill bit. It must be possible to insert the bit up to the
STOP mark.
The geometry of the drill bit and the design of the SonicPin have been perfectly matched to each other.
The working end of the bit is designed so that it allows you to drill through the Resorb x® or Resorb xG
mesh, plate, foil or membrane implants. The bit geometries also reflect the diameter of these implants.
