We recommend selecting a drill bit that is at least 1 mm longer than the pin to be inserted.
• Hold the handpiece like a pencil, making sure that the activation pushbutton (10, front fold-out page)
can be easily operated with the index finger.
• Inserting the sonotrode tip
− If sonotrode is sterile: Open the outer package and hand the sterile sonotrode tip over.
− Screw the sonotrode manually in place on the handpiece.
− Check it for secure attachment by using the open-end wrench (torque: max 0.3 Nm)
− Turn on the SonicWeld Rx. The connected handpiece is now ready for a self-test. This is indicated by the
flashing symbol on the display. The self-test for the handpiece will be started upon operating the hand
activation pushbutton for the first time.
− Hold down the button until the display message changes from Active, Cooling to Ready, the activation LED
stops flashing and the acoustic signal changes.
4.4.3
Application
• To pick SonicPins from the clip magazine, insert the tip of the sonotrode into the SonicPin and withdraw
the pin.
− As the SonicPins attach magnetically to the tip of the sonotrode, they can easily be taken out of the clip
magazine.
• Place the SonicPin attaching to the sonotrode tip into the borehole of the plate or mesh.
• Exert slight pressure on the SonicPin axially to the drilled hole.
• Operate the activation pushbutton (10, front fold-out page) until the SonicPin has been inserted into the
hole to the intended depth under slight pressure, then stop. The blue indicator (9, front fold-out page)
lights up on the handpiece during activation and an alert is sounded in addition.
Avoid any sonotrode tip movement for at least 3 s after inserting the SonicPin.
