A frequently asked question is " W h a t rpm
should I cruise atVz". T h e B R E A K - I N section
provides limitations when the m o t o r c y c l e is
new, but once the engine has been broken in,
then we suggest that y o u f o l l o w these guide
lines. F o r sustained load and throttle con-
ditions, such as those encountered on open
highways, cruise at 3/4 throttle or at 3/4 of
the r p m , " r e d l i n e " , whichever comes first.
This is a recommendation, not a " h a r d and
fast" rule. A l w a y s bear in m i n d , though, the
m a x i m u m allowable speed limit for the area
through which y o u are riding. A n y modifica-
tion or personalization of the gearing c o u l d
possibly change the operating ränge most c o m -
fortable and most efficient for the engine.
