When the system is in the manual mode, only the left or the right
roller set can be switched on. Both at the same time is only
possible when the system is in the automatic mode.
If the automatic mode is not selected, the brake system analyser
remains in manual mode.
The mode that has been selected is indicated by the light (4) on
the control and display unit.
i indicator light ON
= automatic mode
indicator light OFF = manual mode
8.3
Brake test procedure
The sequence in which brake tests are carried out depends on
whether the tests are evaluated manually or by the brake system
analyser.
8.3.1 Brake test with manual evaluation
Make sure that nobody is standing in the immediate
vicinity of the test bench.
Danger of life for anyone standing close to the
roller set!
Observe accident prevention regulations.

In the event of danger, turn the system
kN
off at the main switch.
! Drive vehicle slowly onto rollers.
Use the guiding lines (21) on the ground to line up the vehicle.
This ensures that:
– the wheels are positioned approximately in the middle of the
test rollers,
– the vehicle is properly aligned with the rollers,
– the shoulders of the tyres are unimpeded and do not touch the
cover panels.
Select either automatic or manual mode.
Hold the steering wheel firmly when the drive motors are switched on.
If the vehicle is not positioned at right-angles to the
rollers, it will drift sideways.

roller set!

In the event of danger, turn the system
kN
off at the main switch.
Turn the steering wheel back and forth to straighten out the
vehicle.
When testing the axle that is not controlled by the handbrake,
prevent the vehicle from drifting sideways by applying the
handbrake (PBS).
i When testing the handbrake (PBS), secure the wheels that
are not on the rollers by placing chocks behind them.
i Damp brakes distort the test results.
Apply moderate force to the pedal to dry out the brakes.

Slowly increase the brake force.
The brake force applied to the wheels at each side is shown on the
LH and RH dials on the control and display unit. If the difference
between the two measures values is greater than 25%, the brake
force difference indicator light (5) illuminates. The threshold value
of 25% has been set up in the factory. A Customer Service
engineer can set the system to a different value, if required.
When the maximum slip value is reached, the roller drive motors
switch off automatically.
If the brake force is so small during the test that the automatic slip
disable function is not activated, then
press the S button (F10).
The roller drive motors are switched off. The brake force
indicators continue to display the maximum measured value.
After 4 seconds the drive motors switch on again automatically.
The indicated brake force is erased.
The drive motors switch off automatically after they have been
running for 60 s if the brakes are not applied within this period. At
the same time, the system exits the automatic mode (safety-at-
work regulation stipulated by the mutual indemnity association).
If the brake test is repeated for the same axle, the brake force
progression stored in memory is overwritten.
! ! ! ! ! Only drive the vehicle off the rollers while they are rotating.
The system is now available for testing the next axle or brake
system.
8.3.2 Brake test with automatic evaluation and printed report
Make sure that nobody is standing in the immediate
vicinity of the test bench.

In the event of danger, turn the system
off at the main switch.
The following special accessories are required so that evaluation
can be performed by the brake system analyser:
– remote control
– report printer.
Press the 2nd button (F14) followed by the CA button
(F16).
All old data has now been erased.
i Press the C button (F16) to cancel the most recent entry.
By pressing the 2nd button (F14) and then the CA button
(F16), you will erase all entries and measured values.
i It is not necessary to erase the old data if the brake system
analyser has been switched on by means of the main switch
(1). All measured values stored in memory will have been
erased when the system was switched off at the main
switch (1).
