2.1 Indications for use
The 3R60 Modular EBS Knee Joint is to be exclusively used for the prosthetic fitting of ampu-
tations of the lower limb. It is a polycentric joint offering an Ergonomically Balanced Stride and
hydraulic swing phase control.
2.2 Field of application
Field of application according to the Ottobock MOBIS Mobility System:
Recommended for amputees with Mobility Grades 2 and 3 (restricted outdoor
walkers, non-restricted outdoor walkers).
Approved for a patient weight of up to 125 kg/275 lbs.
Caution!
Reuse on another patient
Fall due to loss of functionality as well as damage to the product
f Only use the product for a single patient.
f Inform the patient.
2.3 Combination possibilities
INFORMATION
In a prosthesis, all prosthetic components have to meet the patient's requirements regarding the
amputation level, body weight, activity level, environmental conditions and field of application.
2.4 Construction and function
Attention!
Please avoid exposing prosthetic components to corrosive elements such as fresh water,
salt water, acids and other liquids. Using this medical product in such environmental
conditions will render all claims against Otto Bock HealthCare null and void.
Please inform your patients.
The amputee will experience considerably greater comfort and stability during stance and swing
phase with the proven joint.
The unique characteristic of the 3R60 is its Ergonomically Balanced Stride (EBS) which has
proven highly useful during 10 years of practical application. In conjunction with its polycentric
joint kinematics, it provides notable stance phase stability. At heel strike a cushioned stance
flexion of up to 15° takes place without initiating normal swing flexion. This stance phase
flexion means shock-absorbing comfort at heel strike as well as additional stability by shifting
the centre of rotation posteriorly and proximally. All in all, walking with the prosthesis becomes
more comfortable and much more physiological.
Two axial forks connect the upper and lower joint section to one another and create a kinematic
chain. A pivoting mount (Fig. 2, A) joins the lower joint section to the rear axial fork, which is also
connected to the shock absorbing elements of the EBS unit (Fig. 2, C).
