Starting the genset

The genset is started manually with the recoil starter.

If the engine does not start or if it stops prematurely, first check the oil level.
Note that the automatic low-oil shutoff function can also be triggered if the
genset is at too steep an angle. The genset can only be restarted after the
cause has been remedied.
Switch the engine switch to the position I.
¨
¨ Check whether all components (e.g. choke, economy mode) are ready for starting:
– Check the position of the economy mode switch, see
page 82.
Only switch it on (ON position) if you are only connecting an AC consumer with a low
and constant power consumption (e.g. lighting).
– Pull the choke lever fully out if the engine is cold or the ambient temperature is low,
see "3.5.3 Choke" on
The choke lever must be fully pushed in when the engine is warm or in high
temperatures.
Ensure that all connected consumers are switched off for start-up. Always start up the
¨
genset with no load.
¨ Use the recoil starter to start the engine manually:
– Take hold of the starter handle of the
recoil starter.
– Support yourself with your other hand by
holding the genset firmly by the carrying
handle.
– Gently pull the starter handle until you can
feel the resistance of the cable pull.
– Pull the starter handle firmly back in one
move and keep holding it tightly. Ideally
the engine will start immediately.
– Move the starter handle slowly and evenly back to prevent damage to the starter
handle and housing. Never allow it to spring back.
– Repeat this procedure until the engine is running. The engine switch is in the
position I for the entire operating period.
Power generation starts automatically as soon as the operating parameters defined for
the load have been reached.
During the warm-up phase, push back the choke lever step by step into its home position

as soon as the motor starts to run unsteadily.
¨ Put the connected consumers into operation as required.
