6.3.2.2 Connecting USB devices

ATTENTION!
The USB port is intended solely for charging USB devices and USB
accumulators. The charging function only works while the genset is in
operation.
Use as long a USB charging cable as possible so that the USB device can be
¨
safely placed close to the genset.
Make sure that you do not place the USB device on the genset or within
¨
the effective range of the exhaust system. Vibrations and hot exhaust can
damage the USB device.
Only USB connectors of the standard A version
can be connected to the USB port. The connection
delivers a direct current with 5 V DC, 2 A.
First connect the charging cable to the USB
¨
device being charged.
Do not make the connection with the USB
¨
socket on the genset until the latter has been
started.

Monitoring ongoing operation

Normally no further actions are required while the genset is running. Nevertheless, you
should check at regular intervals that operation is proceeding properly. This includes for
example the following checks:
¨ Check regularly that the following criteria are fulfilled while the genset is running.
– The genset is secure at its installation site. No migratory movements caused by
vibrations or an unstable surface are apparent. The earth connection is undamaged.
– The engine is running smoothly and the indicator lamps are signalling normal
operation.
– All fuel lines are tight. There is no visible damage to the housing and components.
– The installation site is well ventilated.
Switch off the genset immediately if one of these criteria is not met, and do not put it
back into operation until the fault has been remedied.
¨ When the engine starts to run unsteadily, this can indicate an empty tank. In this case you
should switch off the genset immediately and fill up the tank, see
on page 94.
