ATTENTION!
It is not permissible to use the following tools for cleaning work:
ƒ Metallic tools such as wire brushes and screwdrivers can cause scratches
and major damage.
ƒ Aggressive cleaning agents and those containing solvents can damage
paint and plastic parts.
ƒ The powerful pressure of pneumatic equipment and high-pressure
cleaners can get past seals and impair the secure attachment of individual
components.
¨
Pay attention to leaks and damage when cleaning:
– Repair leaks properly and replace faulty components immediately with original spare
parts, see
"7.4 Maintenance" on
– In the event of paint damage, implement suitable rust protection measures.
¨
Following an extended period of use, you should finally check the engine oil and fuel

levels, see

Storage and long-term storage

Here, storage refers to keeping the genset ready for operation for a period of up to 2
months. Longer periods of non-use are referred to as long-term storage for which additional
precautionary measures are necessary.
7.2.1

Storage

ATTENTION!
The maximum storage period is 2 months. If this period is exceeded, you must
carry out all measures for long-term storage of the genset, see
storage" on
page 104. Otherwise the result can be irreparable damage caused
by degraded fuel.
The storage location must meet the following criteria for proper storage of the genset:
ƒ The storage location must be protected against dust, dry and designed to bear the
genset's weight.
ƒ The storage location must comply with the regulations for storing fuels.
ƒ The storage location must guarantee maintenance of the storage temperatures shown on
the rating plate.
ƒ The genset must be protected against direct sunlight.
ƒ The possibility of access by unauthorised persons and children must be reliably
prevented.
It must also be borne in mind that fuels degrade when in storage. The resulting deposits can
damage the fuel system of the drive motor and important carburettor components. Adding a
suitable fuel stabiliser counteracts this ageing. Perform the following steps for this:
Add the fuel stabiliser to the fuel tank as per the relevant recommendation for use.
¨
¨
Completely fill the fuel tank with fuel.
