In particular, follow all generally applicable and binding accident prevention and
environmental protection regulations. These can impose further obligations relating to
the handling of hazardous materials, the provision and use of personal safety equipment
or road traffic regulations for example.
Operating manual
I Use the genset properly, with safety and hazards in mind and in accordance with the
operating manual.
I If necessary, supplement the operating manual with internal instructions. These include
for example supervision and reporting requirements for taking into account special
internal requirements relating to work organisation, work procedures, personnel used
and responsibilities.
I Always keep the operating manual to hand near to the genset.
I If you sell the genset, also pass on the operating manual and all associated documents to
the buyer.
Personnel
I All operators must be at least 18 years of age.
I All operators must have read and understood the operating manual, and must be able to
follow all notices and instructions.
I All operators must be trained in first aid and must know and be able to implement the
necessary code of conduct in the event of a problem.
I Allow trainees and persons undergoing instruction to work on the genset only under the
constant supervision of an experienced user.
I Regularly check that the personnel involved are working with safety and hazards in mind.
Transport
I Always hold the genset by its handle to carry it.
I Pay attention to the genset's weight. Always lift the genset smoothly and move with care.
I Use only slings that are suitable for bearing the genset's weight.
I Do not stand or loiter under suspended loads.
Setting up
I Operate the genset outdoors and maintain the safety distances, see
genset" on
page 87.
I Operation in closed rooms is generally prohibited. Stationary use, such as for an
emergency power supply, is also not permitted.
I Do not operate the genset in locations where there is a risk of fire or explosion.
I Set down the genset only on a level and non-slippy surface. Observe all locally valid
safety regulations.
