The following choke lever settings are defined by indexing positions:
ƒ Fully pulled out: Choke closed for low air infeed during
a cold start.
ƒ Half pushed in: Choke half open to increase the air
infeed in the warm-up phase.
ƒ Fully pushed in: Choke fully open for normal air infeed
during operation.
When the engine is warm or in high temperatures, make sure that the choke lever is fully
¨
pushed in.

Starter unit

The genset has a recoil starter to enable the motor to be started manually as soon as the
ignition has been switched on via the engine switch.
3.5.4.1 Engine switch and fuel valve
Turning the engine switch switches the ignition on or off. The integrated
fuel valve, which protects the engine against unwanted flooding with
fuel, is also opened or closed at the same time:
ƒ Position 0: The ignition is deactivated; the fuel valve is closed
(DEFAULT with the engine switched off ). The genset cannot be
started.
ƒ Position I: The ignition is activated; the fuel valve is open (DEFAULT
with the engine running). The genset can be started.

3.5.4.2 Recoil starter

The recoil starter is used to start the genset's engine manually.
The recoil starter basically consists of a pull cable with starter handle
connected to one end of the crankshaft via several windings and
secured by a return spring. With the engine switch switched on,
the genset can be started by sharply pulling out the pull cable, see
"6.2 Starting the genset" on
Several starting attempts are required until the engine starts up, depending on the state
of the genset. The return spring pulls in and winds on the pull cable correctly after every
starting attempt. This requires the starter handle to be held firmly and slowly guided back in
order to prevent damage caused by the pull cable springing back.
