Components and protective devices

The genset is fitted as standard with some protective devices that enable safe and
economical operation. These are introduced in brief below.
3.5.1

Automatic low-oil shutoff function

The automatic low-oil shutoff function prevents engine damage caused by insufficient oil
by permanently monitoring the oil level. As soon as the sensor signals a low oil level, the
engine is shut down by cutting the ignition. The genset stops even though the engine switch
remains in the I position.
The indicator lamps display the following signals when the automatic low-oil shutoff
function is triggered:
ƒ OIL ALERT: The oil warning indicator lights up yellow.
ƒ OUTPUT INDICATOR: The operation indicator is off.
The effects of the automatic low-oil shutoff function are as follows, depending on the
operating state:
ƒ The genset cannot be started:
– No oil in the engine (as-delivered state).
– Insufficient oil in the engine.
– The genset is at such an angle that the sensor indicates low oil even though the oil
level would be sufficient in a horizontal position.
