The CAMELEON handle must be in the closed position and locked. In this position, to be checked before each intervention, the CAMELEON must be
free to move in both directions. It must be directly connected to the user's harness through the connector provided.
 Use of type B rope with positioning device or with adjusting device:(Fig. 12)
The CAMELEON handle must be in the open position. In this position, to be checked before each intervention, the CAMELEON slides only in one
direction and is locked in the other direction. To adjust the distance between the user and the structure in lanyard tension use, push on the handle to move
away and pull on the free end of the rope to get closer.
During use with a positioning device (EN358), the rope connector must be connected to a side loop on the waist belt, and the connector of the positioning
device to the other side loop of the belt or vice versa. No other connection type other than that described above is allowed. It is strictly forbidden to connect
both connectors to the same belt buckle.
WARNING :
(Fig. 13 & 14) - In the case of using the device as a positioning device or as an adjustment device for type B rope, a fall arrest device compliant with the
EN353-2 standard (or other fall protection device EN355, EN360, ...) or adjustment device for type A rope compliant with Type A standard EN12841,
should be used jointly with the device.
(Fig. 15) - If the distance between the device and the harness needs to be increased, you must use the CAMELEON version certified with a shock
absorber mounted in an inseparable manner on the CAMELEON. For your safety, no other elements than those described herein, should be used to
connect the CAMELEON to the harness.

- the serial n°, example 10 417200
- the N° of the notified body involved in the control of the equipment (0333)
- the diameter and the type of rope on which the fall arrest system must be
Ø10.5 mm
used:
- the year of manufacture, example 15417200 for year 2010
- an indication of compliance with the directive (EC)
- the N° of the standards to which the product is compliant
- The user must open or manipulate the device only when the risk of falling is eliminated. Touching the sliding fall arrest during ascending or descending
movements may prevent proper operation of the brake mechanism and incur life-threatening risk.
For safety reasons and before each use, check:
- The vertical clearance is sufficient (free space beneath the feet of the user) and no obstacles disrupt the normal functioning of the fall arrest system. ②
The vertical clearance is the stopping distance H + additional safety distance of 1 m. The distance H measured from the initial position to the final position
(user's balance after the fall arrest).
- The anchor point of the rope, chosen above the user, must have a minimum tensile strength compliant with the EN795 standard. Check that, depending
on the equipment used, the vertical clearance is sufficient under the user:
 provide a minimum of 2m under the user's feet in the case where the simple version is used, ②
 provide a minimum of 2m 60 under the user's feet in the case where the shock absorber version is used,
 depending on the length of the anchor line, this distance can change. Please contact the manufacturer.
- Check that the general provision limits the pendular movement in the case of a fall. During the ascending and descending phases, ensure that the anchor
line between the user and the anchor point is as tight as possible and that the rope is never loose between these two points. It is essential for your safety
that work is carried out in a manner so as to minimize the risk of falls as well as the height of the fall.
It is recommended to assign a fall arrest device for each user.
This PPE can only be used by one person at a time.
The weight of the user, including his clothing and equipment must not exceed the maximum weight indicated on the fall arrest.
WARNING :
Some medical conditions may affect the safety of the user; if in doubt contact your doctor.
During use, the overall system must not be in contact with:
cutting elements, sharp edges and structures of small diameter, oils, harsh chemicals, fire, hot metal, all types of electrical conductors...
For safety reasons and before each use, check:
- that the connectors (EN362) are closed and locked ⑤
- that the operating instructions described for each component of the system are met
- that the general disposition of the work situation reduces the fall risk, the drop height and the pendulum movement in the case of a fall.
Provide a safe distance from power lines or areas with an electrical hazard.
- Before and during use, we recommend that you make the necessary provisions for a possible rescue in complete safety. The length of the anchor lines
and the types of equipment available in the workplace area are important factors. Risk assessment and rescue training should, therefore, equally be taken
into account.
- The device can be used on an inclined plane when used according to the EN12841 A/ B and EN353-2 standards.
- Check before every use that the locking system is operational and if need be that the shock absorber is not torn. In case of doubt about regarding the
condition of the device, after stopping a fall (deformation or rupture of the fall indicator), or an accidental fall of the device, it should not be reused and
should be imperatively returned to the manufacturer or to a competent person, authorized by him. It should no longer be used until a competent person has
given written authorization for its reuse.
- Sharp edges, structures of narrow diameter and corrosion are to be banned as they can affect the strength of the anchor line.
- It is forbidden to remove, add or replace a component of the device and its anchor line without the manufacturer's approval.
