13. Do not pull open the door sharply, otherwise there is a danger that
exhaust gases can escape into the living room due to the sudden
low pressure. Open the door slowly to start with and open only
slightly ajar.
14. This will prevent any possible smoke leakage through the opened
door when adding new wood during the ember phase.
15. Never continuously add more wood than the recommended amount.
16. If your chimney is "drawing air" too strongly, the fire will blaze
powerfully even if only being fed by secondary air. Find the optimal
position for controlled burning by moving the combustion air con-
trol lever. The more the air control is pushed in the direction of the
position "Air supply closed", the less air is fed into the firebox. Take
care not to dampen the fire too much and as a result to smother the
fire (see 4.3).
4.2.1 ADDING WOOD
Fuel may only be added to the fire when the initial fuel has burnt down
to embers.
1. Completely open the air supply.
2. Open the firebox door very slowly (use heat protection gloves!) to
ensure no turbulence occurs that could promote smoke to leak out.
3. Place the chopped wood onto the embers (bark facing upwards,
cut section on side) (Ensure that the air supply is open!).
4. Close the firebox door (use heat protection gloves!).
5. If the chopped wood does not immediately start to burn, the com-
bustion air control should be opened completely (see 4.1.1 Com-
bustion air regulation) and remain open for approx. two to five
minutes. The setting of the combustion air control should only
be changed when the wood that has been added has been com-
pletely burnt.
End of the fire:
This is achieved when the wood has been completely burnt, there is no
smouldering fire and no incomplete combustion can occur (Picture 4).
The control lever can now be closed. When your stove is not being op-
erated, always set the control lever to the position "Air supply closed".
