2.2.3 FIRE PROTECTION

SENSO S

In general, a distance to the wall of at least 100 mm must be main-
tained. For safety reasons and for the purposes of fire protection,
larger clearance distances must be ensured for walls needing pro-
tection or for combustible construction materials.
A minimum distance of 100 mm (Fig. 1a) is to be maintained be-
tween construction materials, furniture, decoration or curtains to
the rear of the stove. The clearance distance to the rear is to be
increased to 180 mm if the radiation protection plate (Fig. 1g) is not
installed. If the stove is rotatable, a minimum distance of 515 mm
to the rear and 855 mm to the sides (Fig. 1b) is to be maintained
to guarantee sufficient thermal protection! No combustible objects
may be placed within a distance of 500 mm above the fireplace.
No combustible construction components, furniture, curtains or dec-
oration may be placed within a distance of 900 mm of the firebox
door or the glass panel in the thermal radiation field (Fig. 1a – 1e).
If installed in the corner of a room, the SENSO S may not be rotat-
able. If the stove is assembled as shown in figure 1c, a minimum
clearance distance of 130 mm is to be maintained at the sides. If
the stove is assembled as shown in figure 1d, a minimum clearance
distance to the rear of 100 mm and to the side of 470 mm must be
maintained. If the stove is assembled as shown in figure 1e, a mini-
mum clearance distance to the rear of 100 mm and to the sides of
130 mm must be maintained. If the side installation wall stretches
into the thermal radiation field for the fireplace door, the clearance
distance is to be increased to 470 mm. For rotatable versions of
the stoves, it must be ensured that the side walls are outside of the
thermal radiation field of 900 mm for the fireplace door. Only when
there is radiation protection ventilated on both sides (more informa-
tion in the FeuVo for the relevant German state and DIN 18896), can
the clearance distance to combustible construction materials and
furniture be reduced to 450 mm.
FOR FLOOR COVERINGS NEAR TO THE STOVE:
Floor coverings made out of combustible materials in front of the firebox
opening of your SENSO S are to be protected with a separate covering
made out of non-combustible construction materials. The covering must
extend at the front by at least 500 mm and at each side by at least
300 mm (Fig. 1f) (measured from the firebox opening or the glass panel)!
If the stove has a rotary function, the clearance distance and thus
the protected floor covering area in the thermal radiation field in
front of the firebox opening must be guaranteed in every possible
rotation position. In addition, the flue pipes must be fitted in such
a way that no negative influences are placed on the fixing of the
stove. The exhaust gas pipe may not rotate with the stove.
If the radiation protection plate (Fig. 1g) is not installed, the wall
clearance distances to combustible construction materials in the
following figures 1a, 1d and 1e changes from 100 mm to 180 mm.
The minimum clearance distances to combustible construction ma-
terials and furniture are provided on the stove type plate and the
clearance distances may not fall below these levels.
Wallpaper as a wall covering is not classed as combustible con-
struction materials according to DIN 4102-1.
Observe the minimum clearance distance from the chimney flue pipes
to the combustible construction materials (see 2.2.5 Flue pipes).
