3. C l u t c h c a b l e
T h e c l u t c h c a b l e r e q u i r e s p e r i o d i c l u b r i c a t i o n to
p r e v e n t the c a b l e Strands f r o m r u s t i n g or h a n g i n g up
in t h e c a s i n g . First, d i s c o n n e c t the c a b l e f r o m t h e
c l u t c h lever by s c r e w i n g t h e a d j u s t e r all the w a y b a c k
to t h e c a b l e c a s i n g . T h i s w i l l p r o v i d e e n o u g h free p l a y ,
in t h e c a b l e for y o u to s l i p t h e c a b l e out of t h e lever
h o l d e r t h r o u g h the slot in the l o c k nut, adjuster, a n d
holder. H o l d t h e c a b l e u p r i g h t a n d a l l o w s e v e r a l d r o p s
of l i q u i d g r a p h i t e to f l o w d o w n t h e c a b l e . H o l e t h e
c a b l e u p r i g h t for s e v e r a l m i n u t e s to p e r m i t c o m p l e t e
l u b r i c a t i o n .
If t h e c a b l e n e e d s to b e r e p l a c e d , t h e n p e r f o r m the
Steps a b o v e a n d d i s c o n n e c t t h e c a b l e at the lever.
N e x t , d i s c o n n e c t the c a b l e at t h e e n g i n e . B e g i n by
t a k i n g off t h e c o v e r t h a t h o u s e s the c l u t c h a c t i v a t i n g
m e c h a n i s m (left s i d e of the e n g i n e ) . L o o k i n g at the
Inside of this c o v e r , y o u w i l l s e e t h e c l u t c h a c t u a t i n g
a r m . P u s h t h e a r m u p a n d lift t h e c a b l e e n d off.
R e m o v i n g t h e o l d c a b l e a n d h o o k i n g up the n e w o n e
w i l l take but a f e w m o m e n t s .
