9. Getting Started with the Transmitter

Note:
Later in the operating instructions, the numbers in the text always relate to the illustration
opposite or the illustrations within the section. Cross references to other illustrations are
indicated with the respective illustration number.
For the power supply of the transmitter you will need 8 alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries
mignon size (AA). For ecological and also for economical reasons it is recommended to use recharge-
able batteries, since they can be recharged in the transmitter via a built-in charging socket.
To insert/replace the batteries or rechargeable batteries, please proceed as follows:
1. The battery compartment lid (1) is located on the bottom
of the transmitter. Please press the chequered triangle
(2) and slide off the lid towards the side.
2. Now either insert 8 batteries or 8 rechargeable batteries
into the battery/rechargeable battery compartment.
Make sure to pay attention to the correct polarity of the
batteries. The minus pole of the battery or rechargeable
battery (3) has to have contact with the spiral spring (4).
3. Afterwards slide the lid of the battery compartment back
on and let the locking mechanism click into place.
4. During the operation with rechargeable batteries you can
connect a charging cable to the charging socket and
charge the rechargeable batteries in the transmitter
when the transmitter is switched off.
It is very important that you pay attention to the correct
polarity of the connector plug. The inner contact of the
charging socket has to be connected with the plus con-
nection (+) and the outside contact with the minus con-
nection (-) of the charger.
The charging current should be approx. 1/10 of the ca-
pacity value of the inserted rechargeable batteries. For
rechargeable batteries with a capacity of 2000 mAh this
corresponds to a charging current of approx. 200 mA and
charging time takes approx. 14 h.
In order to avoid damages of internal circuit paths and connections, please don't use fast
chargers.
Since a protective diode is integrated in the transmitter, no chargers can be used that
briefly interrupt the charging current in order to measure the current rechargeable battery
voltage. In this case, the rechargeable batteries have to be taken out of the transmitter.
