b) Tools and auxiliaries, check list for putting into operation
The GP Monster Truck Chassis „Ice Tiger" RTR is pre-assembled ready to drive (Ready To Run).
Before the first start, some basic adjustments must be checked and the necessary accessories and auxiliaries must be prepared.
Go through the various points of the check list one after the other, and your model is then ready to run.
Tools
- Flat spanner
6, 8 and 16 mm
- Wheel brace/box spanner 10 mm
- Allen key 1.5 - 5 mm
- Phillips head (Ph Nr. 1 and )
- Pliers
- Modeling cutter
Auxiliaries
- Cable fastener
- Air filter oil
- Low viscosity machine oil for lubrication
The instructions specific to position front / back / right / left always refer to the
c) Check alignment and tooth backlash of drive
The engine transmits its power via the pinion gear on the clutch bell onto the toothed wheel of the drive shaft.
The other end of the drive shaft drives via a pinion the spur wheel on the rear axle differential and thus the rear wheels. Both rotary axis, i.e. the crank
shaft engine side and the axis of the motor shaft must be aligned exactly in parallel. This prevents tensions in the drive section, premature wear of the
pinions and bearing journals as well as loss of power.
The parallel alignment of crankshaft and drive section must be checked every time before using the vehicle and if necessary it
has to be readjusted!
When the alignment is in parallel, the pinion on the clutch bell and the main
pinion will run smoothly.
Too much tolerance destroys the toothed wheels in the long run, too little tole-
rance destroys the bearing in clutch and engine.
Checking the tooth backlash
- Insert a thin paper strip between the pinion on the drive shaft and the spur
wheel on the rear axle differential.
- Push the model slowly manually
The paper strip must not rip apart during the run!
Readjusting
- Unscrew four screws of the engine mount fastener on the lower side of the
mounting plate (chassis)
- Align engine lengthwise and fasten screws again tightly

- Check the range of the remote control transmitter
- Check basic carburettor setting
- Fill in fuel
