BRAKE
SETTING THE BRAKE PADS
The setting of the V-brake rim brake is the same on the front and rear wheel. First align the
brake pads in parallel with the rim:
1. (If you have not done so yet,) release the screws of the brake pads
agonal socket wrench.
2. Align the loosened brake pads in parallel with the rim.
3. Tighten the brake pad screws
Then adjust the distance from the brake pads to the rim:
The distance from the brake pads to the rim should be approx. 1 mm on either side. When
the brake lever is actuated, both brake pads must be in contact with the rim at the same
time.
1. Adjust the distance of the brake pads by turning the setting screw
Increasing the distance from the rim
Reducing the distance from the rim
2. Then adjust the brake lever as described in the chapter "brake lever".
3. Repeat the process if the lever still closes too easily.
HYDRAULIC RIM BRAKE
• The brake linings must be free from dirt, grease and oils at all times, since the brake
output may otherwise rapidly reduce or even be lost entirely.
Danger of accident!
• Check the degree of wear of the brake linings before every ride. When riding with
DANGER
strongly contaminated brake linings, the brake force may fail entirely! Danger of acci-
dent!
• Replace the brake pads only with genuine spare parts. Always ensure that you only use
brake pads that are suitable for the rim used (steel or aluminium). Proper function is
otherwise not ensured. Danger of accident!
• Replace the brake pads only in pairs, since the brake will otherwise not work correctly
or the brake force will reduce. Danger of accident!
MAINTENANCE
The MAGURA brake oil filled in is not subject to aging. The MAGURA rim brake therefore does
not need to be vented or refilled regularly in normal operation. If it is nevertheless necessary,
e.g. due to a defective brake line, have this only done by qualified specialist using the respec-
tive special tools.
