BRAKES
SETTING THE BRAKE PADS
The setting of the V-brake rim brake is the same on the front
and rear wheel. First align the brake pads in parallel with the
rim:
1. (If you have not done so yet,) release the screws of the
brake pads
(fig. AJ) with a 5 mm hexagonal socket

wrench.
2. Align the loosened brake pads in parallel with the rim.
3. Tighten the brake pad screws
the torque specification (s. chapter Torque specifications).
Then adjust the distance from the brake pads to the rim:
The distance from the brake pads to the rim should be approx.
1 mm on either side. When the brake lever is actuated, both
brake pads must be in contact with the rim at the same time.

2. Then set the brake lever.
BACK-PEDALLING BRAKE
• The back-pedalling brake is only functional when the chain or belt is put on properly! If
the chain or belt has jumped off, you cannot brake with the back-pedalling brake any
longer! Danger of accident!
• Strong braking may cause the rear wheel to block and you may lose control when cy-

cling. Danger of accident!
• Always use the V-brake rim brakes as well at longer downhill rides, to avoid overheat-
ing of the back-pedalling brake.
Otherwise, there may be a sudden or reduced brake output of the back-pedalling
brake. Danger of accident!
WARNING
Actuate the back-pedalling brake by pedalling in the opposite direction. The back-pedalling
brake is maintenance-free and requires no adjustment.
