REAR WHEEL

The procedure for removing and installing the rear wheel depends on the gear shift system
installed (see chapter Gearshift).

OPERATION
To shift a gear, you need to turn the shifting rotating grip. Stop pedalling briefly while shifting
gears to permit the gear to shift.
The SRAM Automatix gear shift in contrast does not require shifting levers at the handlebar.
The SRAM Automatix hub switches gear for you on its own starting at a certain speed and
will shift down again automatically as well.
The following explanations on setting the gear shift and the rear wheel removal or installa-
tion are short descriptions:
• Incorrectly installed wheels may impair braking and cycling performance. Danger of acci-
dent!
• Tighten all screws and nuts that you loosened again well. Check that the safety washer is
placed correctly. The rear wheel may otherwise come loose during the ride! Perform a

careful test ride after installation. Danger of accident!

SETTING/SERVICING THE GEAR SHIFT
The SRAM Automatix gear shift is entirely maintenance-free thanks to its design. No setting
work is required.
