Firmware update via "MemTool"

For firmware update of PSI 6xCx.xxx timer types via interface X3C or
X3U.
The following is needed to perform a firmware update:
• a PC with the "MemTool" software installed,
• a suitable connection between timer and PC; refer to page 363 et
seq.) and
• the firmware as *.hex file.
" Proceed as follows:
Connect a V24 interface of your PC (COM1 or COM2) to X3C on the

timer or an USB port of the PC to X3U on the timer.
For USB, the required virtual Com-Port driver must be installed on
the PC!
Start the "MemTool" software.

Select the target file „PS6000TC(MiniMonitor)" and confirm the dia­

log by hitting OK.
Select the COM port used (via „Target setup").

Select the path and file name of the firmware using the "Open File"

button. Firmware files have the file name extension ".hex".
Welding is not possible if you proceed!
Press the "ESC" and "Enter" keys on the diagnosis module si­

multaneously for at least 8 seconds. Thus, the weld timer is switched
to bootstrap mode.
This condition is indicated by the red "Status" LED.
Activation of the boot mode can be aborted by releasing the two keys
"ESC" and "Enter" on the diagnosis module before the 8 seconds
have elapsed.
Press the "Connect" button to establish connection with the timer.

When connection has successfully been established, all memory
areas in the left window must be marked using "Select All" and trans­
ferred to the right window using the "Add. Sel." button.
Interruption of power supply
Possibility of damage to the unit!
" When the next step has been initiated, the power supply must not
be interrupted until the complete firmware has been loaded.
Start programming the flash memory using the "Program" button.

The firmware is loaded. Wait for the end of the transmission.

After the end of the transmission, separate the connection using

"Disconnect".
Press the "Down" and "Enter" keys on the diagnosis module si­

multaneously for at least 8 seconds. Alternatively, you may comple­
tely switch off the timer's logic supply and turn it on again after a few
seconds.
Then, the timer is booted with the new firmware.
