Electrical connection of the product

7.2.1

General information on electromagnetic fields

" Please note the safety instructions relevant for electrical connection
in Section 2.6.4 starting on page 246 and in Sect. 3.3 starting on
page 258.
" Make sure that all respective plant sections are de­energized before
and during the electrical connection work.
" Make sure that the required conditions for electrical connection are
complied with. Refer to Section 15 starting on page 429.
The maximum possible connection cross­sections and tightening
torques for mains and transformer cables are provided there.
In order to comply with the EN 62135 standard, make sure that the

inverter is - in the case of a fault - automatically separated from the
power supply (e.g. short­circuit of an internal electrolytic capacitor).
Use the HSA output of the weld timer for this purpose (X8, refer to
page 382) in connection with e.g. a suitable (remote controlled) main
switch.
" For master slave operation, please also refer to section 13.3 starting
on page 420.
Electric current flowing through conductors causes locally confined
electric and magnetic fields. Current flowing through transformer lines
creates an electromagnetic field around the transformer lines. Current
through the welding gun causes an electromagnetic field through the
welding gun.
The highest field strengths are created in and around the welding gun.
The field strength depends on the current, the slope and the size and
shape of the welding gun.
Electromagnetic fields can interfere with some medical implants, e.g.
pacemakers. Protective measures must be taken for persons who wear
medical implants. For example, access to welding equipment must be
restricted or an individual risk analysis for welders must be carried out.
The following general principles should be followed:
" The transformer cables should be brought together as closely as
possible, e.g. by using a cable, by twisting two cables or by connec­
ting two cables with adhesive tape, cable ties or similar.
" Keep the torso and head as far away as possible from the welding
gun and the transformer cables.
Never wrap transformer cables around metal objects or the body.
"
" Do not place the body between the transformer cables.
" Maintain the specified distance from the welding gun.
