8.1 Setting of the current control parameters for the Transformers
of PSI 6xxx timers
" Turn the power supply (mains) off.
The red DC LINK VOLTAGE LED at the front panel of the timer is
extinguished.
The bridge rectifiers are inhibited and the DC link voltage is slowly
discharged.
The green LOGIC LED continues to be lit green in the case of
external 24 V supply (at X4).

Possibility of cardiac arrhythmia, burns, shock!
" Never interpret the extinguishing of all LEDs on the product as
zero voltage!
Please note that the voltage inside the unit directly after switching

off the mains supply has not been reduced to a harmless level yet.
Do not touch either mains or transformer connections for at least 5

minutes after switching the mains supply off.
Use suitable measuring equipment and an appropriate measu­
"
ring method to ensure that the unit is de-energized before carrying
out any work on the unit.
In various timer variants PSI6xxx.xxx it is possible to adapt the control
parameters of the current control of the welding transformers. There are
2 variants of the control parameter change. The first variant recom­
mended by us has a controller adaptation (refer to BOS Electrode->
Transformer Current gain adjustement) from -10 to +10, whereby the
P-component and the I-component of the controller are adjusted to­
gether.
In some control types, the P-component and the I-component can be
set individually (see BOS Electrode-> Transformers Adjustment
P-component and adaptation I-component).
In principle, we can only recommend safe operation of the welding cur­
rent regulator with the standard controller setting. The default setting is
such that the standard steel welding applications from 8kA to 20kA can
be optimally operated with typical welding guns.
Other controller settings may cause current oscillations or switch off the
timer.
The adjustment of the controller parameters can be done by our ser­
vice. Otherwise, the adjustment of the controller parameters is the resp­
onsibility of the customer.
