Second break-in phase
• Make the engine mixture slightly leaner by turning the main nozzle needle by 1/16 to 1/8 of a full turn. Start the
engine.
• Let the engine run again for approximately 2 - 3 minutes with cooling down phases in between. The engine should
respond to the throttle better, but smoke will still be emitted from the exhaust pipe.
If the engine revs up briefly then stalls, unscrew the main nozzle needle slightly.
• Turn the engine off and let it cool down for 10 minutes.
• Repeat this procedure several times and make the mixture slightly leaner each time.
Third break-in phase
The vehicle should be run at a low speed for three more tank refills (max. 1/2 throttle).
A mixture that is too lean (no smoke emitted from the exhaust) can cause the engine to overheat and seize.
To prolong the lifespan of the engine, use a slightly oily carburettor setting and a fuel with a sufficient oil
content (at least 16%). White smoke should always be visible coming from the exhaust.
The oil in the fuel is used to lubricate the two-stroke engine; the white smoke is the burnt oil.
The total driving time (engine run time) during the break-in phase should be approximately 45 minutes, after which the
engine should be run in. You can tell that the engine is run in when it can be revved up in a cold state without a glow
plug and without noticeable resistance.
You can now use the engine at full throttle.

i) Refuelling the vehicle

Open the tank cap and fill the tank with a suitable methanol/oil-based mixture for RC model vehicles.
Use a suitable tank bottle or a suitable mechanical or electrical model fuel pump (not included, available as an ac-
cessory).
During the break-in phase (approximately 6 - 10 tank refills), a special RC model vehicle fuel with 16%
nitromethane must be used.
After the break-in phase (an engine run time of approximately 45 minutes), you can use a fuel with 20%
nitromethane.
For maximum racing performance, you can use a fuel with a maximum nitromethane content of 25%. See
section 11. a) for details.
Only use fuel designed for RC model vehicles! The oil content of fuel for RC aeroplane engines is too low.
These fuels do not lubricate the engine sufficiently and may cause the engine to overheat and fail.
Never use conventional petrol-based/super fuels (e.g. 1:25 mixture).
